Long Buckby's Knit & Natter was held at Dunchurch Village Hall, on Saturday 15th October 2011.

A large gathering of enthusiastic knitters made the hall buzz with chatter all morning as people sat around the tables working on projects they had brought, or learning a new technique. Around the hall were various stall holders: Uppingham Yarns, Sue Woolley, Wendy Piper's Knits'n'Bits, Wendy Yates buttons, Gloria Thomas with Whizzy Knitting, Toft Alpacas beautiful yarn, Sue Hunter of Knit'n'Caboodle, as well as the Guild stand (with machine knitting clinic) and a stall for the Royal Marsden Charity knitting items.

There was a demonstration of spinning by Judy Bradshaw, and Jane Harrisson headed up the crochet group. Lynda Fiendley and Jill Brownjohn were based on the stage demonstrating Patchwork Knitting where Lynda had her beautiful patchwork coats and bags on display.

Numbers were up on last year from 130 to 152 people, which the new venue was able to accommodate well. Conversation and exchange of ideas continued in the refreshment room, where friends caught up with one another and made new ones. Volunteers from Long Buckby Machine Knitters provided endless cups of tea and coffee, and Val Leaver volunteered to help sell the raffle tickets.

After lunch Iris Bishop was introduced and gave her usual entertaining, but instructive talk, explaining how to achieve fluid, or shaped fabrics using knitweave, the ribber, and stitch size. The use of a video camera with a close up of each fabric sample projected onto a screen as she talked was a great help.

Next year the Knit and Natter will also take place at Dunchurch Village Hall on Saturday 20th October 2012. (week after Ally Pally).
